I'm self-conscience, so I don't particulalry LIKE changing infront of people, but I don't think it is perverted. It is just something you have to do. Bobby keeps on his underwears, anyway.
Whether or not anyone in the series is gay doesn't matter. Normal people just don't look at people while they're changing. It is awkward.
Unless you know you are not going to get caught.
My take: it's a BOOK. ABOUT PEOPLE WHO USE TUNNELS TO GO TO DIFFERENT WORLDS THAT ARE UNDER THREAT FROM AN EVIL GUY NAMED SAINT DANE. I don't think DJ felt like wasting time with the changing scenes. And it would just be stupid if their were changing stalls in the flume chamber. Also, I could probably change in front of my good friends/family and TALK AND MAKE JOKES, especially if we were TRAVELERS WHO SAVE THE UNIVERSE. And it's not like Bobby and Spader are dancing and waving their wieners around. They just change quickly. And Bobby doesn't even get naked. He always keeps the boxers, remember?
I agree with you... even when he doesn't keep the boxers, he's alone then, not to mention he played basketball and he's used to it.

Okay...even if Bobby was gay/perverted....who cares? all you who read harry potter, she told us that dumbledore was gay, does that change our oppinions on the book? of course not.

Oh, crap. I just had a thought. If Bobby always keeps on his boxers, and he hasn't been home since book three, does that mean he hasn't changed his undies in six books?

No Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse are not girly books. I have read them(i am a guy) and I liked them a lot. There's vampires, killing, adventure, you name it the book pretty much has it. There is love and things people might consider "girly", but truly its not a girly book at all. I highly recommend them.

i wouldnt consider love girly. love is a human emotion that everyone feels. my favorite book is "The Heart of a Thief" its a comic but its truely amazing and heart breaking. anyway its just that when she said she was happy to see that guys were getting into the books she made it seem like guys wouldnt want to read them.

Ugh. I must've had a bad day yesterday - everybody was interpretating my posts the wrong way. What I meant was that, point blank, most guys I know are a little hesitant to read ANYTHING from a girl's point of view. Mysteries of the feminine mind, I guess.
Twilight is most certainly NOT a girly-girly book, which seems to be a very common misconception from people who haven't read it. The protagonist, Bella Swan, does NOT wear makeup, or fancy clothes, or plays sports or has huge sleepovers where she discusses the latest gossip.
She's a natural girl: kind of shy, yeah, but she's strong and stubborn and I think she's pretty wonderful, even if she doesn't. She pokes fun at her girly-girl friends, and likes books and old movies.
She isn't whiny, or shallow, or angsty. She has troubles, and quite a few after the events in the series, but she doesn't moan about it: she really tries to figure out where to go from here.
Sorry to all you guys if I gave you second thoughts about reading it. That was not my intention AT ALL, but I can only blame myself for not making myself clearer. Have fun reading it - it really is a beautiful, well-written, thought-provoking series.

You act as if they just take turns watching each other dress. They most likely don't look at each other, and are busy getting themselves dressed.

OH MY GOD! Are you kidding me? 3 pages? 3 pages about whether or not its weird to change in front of other members of the same sex. I mean I am just baffled. I haven't been on here in about 9 months and this is the crap I come back to. Massive, deep, wonderful books with deeply interwined tales of saving everything that ever has and ever will exist and you are talking about perhaps the least important thing EVER written. You make me sick.

So much agreed. SO much agreed. Thank you. I've been watching this topic for awhile, and that needed to be said.
Seriously.
Who. Cares.
1) I seriously have to give my opinion on this, because there are some seriously shallow-minded people here. I'm 15, and believe it or not *gasp* us 14- and 15-year-old guys like girls! I know, shocker.
2) Have any of you ever been to a locker room? Ever? I know I have. Like, several times a week. Guess what? There are other people there. And guess what? They're naked sometimes. (I don't actually change in the locker room, I only put my stuff in the lockers, but there are people who do) And I'm pretty sure I'm not gay. But even if I was, why should that change the opinion people have of me? This is exactly what you're doing to Bobby Pendragon, a FICTIONAL CHARACTER. Grow up a bit.
3) This is total crap. You people are taking the smallest piece of a book that may be controversial, deciding to make a big deal out of it, and BAM! we've got a huge argument on our hands.
If you're going to discuss something for several pages of on-topic material, please put your time toward something more productive, like, oh, I dunno... Maybe Pendragon? There's a new book out TODAY, in case you were wondering.
To the Twilight tangent: Read what you want. Don't let what other people say stop you.
To the guy that said his school just banned flirting: Most schools have a PDA rule, including mine. But that doesn't typically stop people.
*ahem*

I don't really understand the reason for the PDA rule (I hug my friends all the time and I never get in trouble), but banning flirting seems just a little too extreme. Firstly, as long as it isn't sexual harassment, what's wrong with it? And how would you enforce it?
Amokov: Me, too. Me, too. *whistles innocently off into the distance*
uber_nerd: You know, I was just thinking, how is Twilight NOT guy-friendly? There are the hot cars, the powerful villains, guys (and girls) who drive down pitch black roads at a hundred mph, a secret vampire law enforcement organization hiding behind ancient fortress walls, invincible immortals who need the cover of thunderstorms to play baseball, Native American uber warriors who explode into masses of muscle and fang on command, tactical training in dark forests... and the list goes on.
This book is so AWESOME. WOO!
Everyone else who thinks it's silly not to be mature enough to handle changing in front of others: Yep. Yep, yep, yep. I'd repeat it all, but I've already said it and you've already said it and today we're getting a new forum.

wow...i'm really glad this topic has changed from being about people feeling wierd reading about two guys changing near eachother to another book that is really good so far (still on chapter 2, cant read much this week...damn finals) so, yay mature people who change topics...high fives, hugs, and sniggers all around. on me.
